I usually avoid reviewing larger American beer companies beers because I don’t think much of their products. They tend to be watered down and bland. John Cleese said it best, “American beer is like having sex in a canoe, it is the next closest thing to water”.
Miller Chill is no exception, it is an odd lemon/lime flavored beverage masquerading as a beer. If Sprite made beer this would be it. It reminds me of B&J wine coolers I drank in the 80’s, very light, fruity and very little aftertaste. It is heavily carbonated, so much so that just sitting it back on the table causes a wall of foam to build inside the bottle. It has a zing of lemon/lime , a shot of salt, and not much else.
If you like Sprite and hate beer then this is your beer.
2 out of 5 burps.

Samuel Adams beer is a pretty mainstream beer for a “micro brewery”. I bought mine at Target here in Texas. The lager beer is pleasant in taste and has a sweet aftertaste with a nice hint of citrus fruit. I would definitely recommend this beer as a great stepping stone for people who are tired of the watered down version of American beer. That being said I also think this beer is a little too mild for my particular taste. It also has a lot of carbonization. I would rate it 3.5 burps out of 5.
I’m a big fan of beer and decided to resurrect this blog to bring my opinions of beer to the net. I will be posting reviews of beer as I drink it. My palette prefers heavier beers such as Dark Lagers but they aren’t the most practical all the time. I prefer to drink them when I plan on having 1 or 2 beers. If I am planning on drinking several beers I tend to go towards a lighter ale or Lager. They don’t weigh you down as much and make me a little less sluggish. That being said I do appreciate a good dark stout.
For those in the dark I thought I would take a minute to explain beer styles from lightest to darkest.
Most American beer is Lager in style and is best summed up by John Cleese a British Comedian, ” like having sex in a canoe, the next closest thing to water.” I would say that American beer is truly a beer for the masses. It is light, lacking in any specific flavor, and not harsh. If it were a color I would call it Beige. Not that this is all bad. I would almost say most American beer (Coors, Budweiser, Lite…) are great beers for people who don’t like beer. These beers in my opinion are a classic example of advertising over substance. We all love those beer commercials, and we all love the buzz, but its a lot like Ozarka.
With a few exceptions, you generally have to look at smaller breweries in the U.S to find any flavor. One of my local favorites here in Texas is Shiner Boch. It is a nice moderate Lager with a great flavor and not too bitter on the aftertaste. But they are not easily found outside of Texas.
For most beer styles there are 2 types that cover most of the beers we run across. Ale and Lagers. They key difference between the 2 is the where the yeast does its work. Lagers have the yeast working on the bottom and Ales have it working on the top. Ales tend to be fruity and as a result and than Lagers.
