Stella Artois is a Belgian beer and comes in a green bottle. It has an okay taste ( very similar to Rolling Rock) and a decent sweet taste with a somewhat bitter aftertaste. It is not too carbonated but in my mind is a little bland and simplistic. It really lacks flavor on more than one or two levels. While it is not as bad as most American beers I would not rate it much higher simply becuase it lacks a real punch.
2.5 out of 5 burps
Harp is a Guiness Beer but has very little in common with it. This Lager is a nice middle of the road Lager that goes down smooth and is not too bitter. It has a mild fruity flavor to it and is highly carbonated. The smell is pleasant and not overwhelming. I would rate the it 3 out of 5 burps.

Tonights beer is Ciucas or Ciuc..first brewedd in 1892 supposedly Brewed with pure mountain water
ABV 4.5% and a light golden beer with a crisp and refreshing taste, i am unfortunately drinking it warm, (almost blasphemy) from the store, but cold, i give it 10 out of 10 for refreshment…i am 6 pints in and not much effect alcohol wise..thus a great beer to drink at social occasions and Bar B Q s…all the taste non of the effects…like wife embarrassing…or making guests wonder if the chef has had a few too many…
A lot of Visitors and tourists and international Guests who have visited Brasov in romania have Drank this Beer and it is one of the more commonly known brands in Romania…
at £0.80 per 2 Ltrs or 4 pints its value for money $1,60 usd per 4 pints
another product of Ursus Breweries..review of Ursus still to come

Tonights Beer is Bergenbier…Brewed in romania but with a german name influence??strange..not so though but it from the same company that brew or distribute stella and becks in romania interbrew romania s.a.
a pretty just ok sort of beer, but lacking in something? not sure what, at 4.8% Vol its probably alcohol content thats missing from this rather bland beer, its cheap, but for this country it has to be,well at least at that strength. about the same as numarkt at (much Stronger) $2.00 or £1.00 for 2 Ltrs or 4 pints…its ok and much better served cold nothing worse than a warm larger beer…as Carlsberg is considered “probably the best larger in the world” then this stuff is the equal in romania..they sponser a lot of sports events for publicity.. the web site is www.bergenbier.ro if you are curious enough to see it..Next beer coming soon…

Today i have selected based on price alone “Neumarkt” it was cheaper than the other 2 Ltr bottles by a small amount less than 10p uk money but it has an ABV of 5.2% Vol, after consuming 3 ltrs it seems to be going down well…as it would…. if i have a head ache in the morning i will let you all know….it is only quality guaranteed for 4 months in the bottle, and is brewed by S.C.Mures Romania in a town called Ungheni ? i think its a blonde beer or larger and it is very smooth, and best cold as all are. so in comparison to timisoarana its good and may be a bit better..we have a lot to go i have a load of beer to try on your behalf .. any comments feel free to ask i will give anything a go….

Probably the oldest beer in Romania
( by our man Thrifty in Romania)
Beer in Romanian is called Bere, so not much different there, any tourist can get one anywhere.. and at a cheap price.
Its been brewed here in Romania for about 300 years, since 1718 and is now owned and run by URSUS breweries linked to SAB Miller, yet another fine beer. Ursus that is…review coming soon.
the beer tonight is Timisoreana, abv 5.0% vol
In true style I have consumed 2 Ltrs (about 4 pints give or take a squiff)… and it’s a pleasant, smooth drink that in my experience does not leave one with a big hangover in the morning, unlike other brands.
Quality High
Price low cost
Hangover effect minimal
the exact cost of my 2 Ltrs was 5.2 Ron (Romanian money), in GBP thats £1.02 pounds in US dollars about $2.04.
A pleasant drink and well worth the visit to Romania. I will be reviewing more beers here soon.
